Joseph Emslie is an English stand-up comedian and writer from Stratford-upon-Avon, now based in London. Performing since 2016, his relaxed conversational style combines sharp observational jokes, anecdotal storytelling, self-deprecation and occasional musical comedy. He has performed for clubs and promoters including Angel Comedy, Just The Tonic, Banana Cabaret, Avalon, Off The Kerb and Little Wander.
Joseph was runner-up in the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2021, reached the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year final in 2018 and the Amused Moose National New Comic Award final in 2017, as well as becoming a semi-finalist in So You Think You’re Funny?. In 2022, he was selected as a finalist in the Musical Comedy Awards at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre.
His screen and radio credits include Channel 4’s The Paddock, Union Jack Radio and BBC Radio 5 Live. His 2019 Edinburgh Fringe work-in-progress, In Bread with Joseph Emslie, sold out and was featured on the front page of The Scotsman. More recently, he has continued developing solo material at festivals including Leicester Comedy Festival and Machynlleth Comedy Festival, where he presented the work-in-progress show Catch in 2026.
