David McDonnell performing stand-up at Hot Comedy, Camden

THU 17 SEPT

David McDonnell

David McDonnell is an American stand-up comedian performing across the London and New York comedy circuits. His joke-heavy storytelling draws heavily on an unusually international life: after leaving the United States at 17, he spent the following twelve years living across five countries, with stops including Quebec, Australia and Spain.

Those experiences form the backbone of David’s comedy, exploring the places people go, the identities they pick up along the way and the parts of home they never quite manage to leave behind. His style combines quick punchlines with longer stories drawn from years of travelling and living abroad.

In 2026, David took All You Can Eat Continental Buffet to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, hosting a late-night mixed-bill show featuring comedians from New York, Canada and the UK before closing each night with his own stand-up. The show ran throughout August at West Port Oracle as part of the Free Festival. He has also appeared on the UK circuit at venues including Brighton’s Secret Comedy Club.
